Data Storage: Pensive stores all data locally on your device by default. The application does not collect or transmit your personal information, and employs no tracking mechanisms. Your data is only shared with third parties if you choose to use an optional cloud AI provider, as described below.
Audio, Text, Image, Video and File Protection: Audio recordings, text entries, photos, videos and files remain entirely on your device and are never uploaded to any server unless you choose to use a third-party AI provider as described below.
AI Providers
Pensive includes an optional AI assistant feature. By default, this feature uses Apple Intelligence, which processes everything entirely on your device and shares no data externally.
If you choose to use a third-party AI provider in Settings, your memories (including text notes, audio transcriptions, and photo and video descriptions) and your conversation messages will be sent to that provider’s servers in order to generate responses. When using any of these providers, your data is subject to their respective privacy policies in addition to this one. Pensive does not store or log any data sent to these providers beyond what is saved locally on your device (conversation transcripts). Your API key for each provider is stored securely in your device’s Keychain and is never shared with Flat Circle Software or any other party.
To stop sharing data with a third-party provider, switch back to Apple Intelligence in Settings or remove your API key.
Analytics
Pensive collects anonymised analytics via TelemetryDeck. This allows for product interactons information to be captured for the purposes of improving Pensive. No personal data is captured via these analytics. You can opt-out of this collection on the Settings page in Pensive. Telemetry Deck Privacy Information.
